Samples

In order to view our PDF samples, you will need to have Adobe's Acrobat Reader (free) software installed on your computer. We recommend using the most recent version of Reader (5.0) to view our samples and other PDF content. Below you may download the installer for the most recent versions of Reader for both Windows and Macintosh.

Once downloaded to your machine they should take just a few minutes to install. Installation instructions and support, along with other versions of the software (in different languages), are available here for various platforms.

Reports and Manuals

The Illinois State Water Survey, a division of the Office of Scientific Research and Analysis of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and affiliated with the University of Illinois, is the primary agency in Illinois concerned with water and atmospheric resources. Prospectuses - These samples consist of the financial prospectus for Maxygen, Inc., the industry leader in the emerging field of directed molecular evolution. Maxygen had its IPO occur during December of 1999. The samples are in PDF and HTML, and both contain rich color graphics and very intuitive navigational features (Bookmarks, Hyperlinks, Table of Contents, etc.). These navigational features make is very easy for end users and potential investors to quickly find the specific content that they are seeking.

Fatbrain.com - Commonly known as the Internet's most comprehensive professional bookstore, Fatbrain.com launched their eMatter site in late October of 1999. This sample consists of their marketing brochure for eMatter which Altos converted into PDF normal from hardcopy. This is a very complex, oversize, multi-column document with full-blown color graphics and graphic overlays. Also, please notice that all of the text in the PDF is "live".

e-Books - Catherine Lanigan is the author of over 20 titles, including Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile. Altos converted one of her first novels, Admit Desire (which is now out-of-print and hard to find), into PDF normal. This sample consists of the first chapter of the book. Please notice how the graphical presentation of the book maintains complete integrity to the hardcopy original in all aspects of formatting.
